2016 Census update

2017 will be a year of renewed discovery as the ABS and REMPLAN gear up for the release of the 2016 Census data.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has previewed the 2016 Census of Population and Housing data, revealing the ‘typical’ Australian in 2016 was a 38-year-old, married, mother of two, paying off a mortgage and doing 5 to 14 hours of housework in her three-bedroom home.

A further release from ABS has revealed the ‘typical’ Australian family (currently a couple with children) is about to undergo significant change. The ABS are projecting the number of couple families without children is likely to overtake the number of couple families with children, becoming the most common family type in Australia between 2023 and 2029.

REMPLAN is working with the ABS and has systems in place to ensure your staff access software and public online profiles for REMPLAN Economy and REMPLAN Community will be expedited and updated efficiently following the 2016 Census data releases.

  • The ABS will release the majority of Community (demographic) data on 27 June 2017, your REMPLAN Community subscriptions will be updated to reflect the 2016 Census by mid-July.
  • A further release will occur in October 2017, detailing journey to work data, your REMPLAN Economy subscriptions will be updated to reflect this release within a fortnight of ABS release.

All 2016 Census updates are included as part of your existing subscription.

Now is a good time to book in a training session to ensure you will get the most out of your new data!
